This event was hosted by dr. Gebi Ruth Santa Tobing by presenting speakers from Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono National Brain Center Hospital Jakarta, namely dr. Andre Dharmawan Wijono, Sp.N. In delivering his material, dr. Andre explained about the Classification of Headaches where Cluster Headaches are included in the type of Primary headaches (Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalgias) where the definition of this headache is a headache on one side in the orbital, supraorbital, temporal areas with a duration of 15-180 minutes, usually this pain feels unmatched and has never been experienced before by the patient. Cluster Headaches are often found more in men, but several studies have found that women also often experience headaches in the orbital area. Specific causes or risk factors have not been found, but what can be traced from Cluster Headaches can come from family history (genetic tendencies), age (range 21-30 years) and history of surgery. Symptoms of pain that appears on one side are: Red and watery eyes, Blocked and runny nose, Swelling of the eyelids, Sweaty face and forehead, Dilated or constricted pupils, and Feelings of restlessness due to pain. If you have felt these symptoms, Dr. Andre recommends that patients go to the hospital immediately for treatment before the pain gets worse. For preventive management of Cluster Headaches, patients are advised to rest regularly, avoid sleeping in the afternoon, avoid alcohol, limit exposure to volatile substances: gasoline, be careful when at high altitudes, avoid tobacco products, avoid bright lights and loud noises. It is hoped that this educational event can increase patient and public understanding of Cluster Headaches.
